Small dwarf rabbit playing on the ground

It can be challenging to find a good commercial toy because not all of them are safe. We've done our research and created a complete list of toys for rabbits. Keep reading while we look at commercial and DIY toys you can give your rabbit to keep them entertained. We'll supply you with an image and a description of each one.

Toys For Rabbits To Play With

Balls For Rabbits

Rabbits enjoy activity balls, and our rabbits often like to roll the balls around before they chew them up. Since your rabbit will try to eat it, you will need to make sure it uses a non-toxic material that is safe to consume. If you are making them yourself, you will aim for a ball that is about three inches in diameter. Activity balls increase your rabbit's movement as they chase after them, so they are one of the better toys to give your rabbit.

1. Niteangel Small Animal Trio of Fun Balls Activity Toy

The Niteangel Small Animal Trio of Fun Balls Activity Toy is a perfect example of a healthy toy that will encourage exercise. It's a three-pack that uses seagrass, water hyacinth, and rattan to create three durable toys. There are no glues to worry about, and you can fill the weave ball with healthy treats.

Grass Bed

A grass bed provides your pet with a comfortable place to sleep and also a tasty snack. The bed is made entirely of timothy hay or other grass, so it is perfectly healthy for your pet to eat. It doesn't provide much exercise for your pet, nor will it last long, but they are usually not very expensive, and they are easier to create yourself than activity balls.

2. SunGrow Natural Portable Grass Rabbit Bed

The SunGrow Natural Portable Grass Rabbit Bed is a perfect example of a safe and non-toxic bed that will keep your pet busy for several days. It uses 100% woven grass that's firm yet chewable.

Hanging Chew Toy

Hanging chew toys are another multifunctional toy that you can give your rabbit. These toys will entertain your pet while providing their habitat with attractive decoration. Unlike the activity balls and cozy grass beds, it could take a little while to convince your pet to try these toys, but once they get hooked, they will enjoy it as much as the others.

3. Kaytee Carousel Carrot Small Animal Chew Toy

The Kaytee Carousel Carrot Small Animal Chew Toy is a good example of a hanging chew toy. It's made of durable materials and has wood and loofah pieces that your rabbit will enjoy chewing. These pieces will also help clean and floss your rabbit's teeth.

4. CPC Hanging Toy

The CPC hanging tree is a great idea for a rabbit toy you can build yourself. It requires only a few toilet paper rolls, string, and timothy hay. You can build this toy in a few minutes for next to no cost, and it will provide your rabbit with plenty of healthy entertainment.

Wooden Chew Toys

Wooden chew toys are great for wearing down the continuously growing teeth of your rabbit. These toys tend to be noisier than other toys because they tend to clank as your pet tosses them around that cage. However, wooden toys for rabbits tend to last longer than the other types we have looked at so far.

5. Kaytee Chew & Treat Toy Assortment for Rabbits

The Kaytee Chew & Treat Toy Assortment for Rabbits is an adorable example of wooden chew toys that will keep your pet entertained for several days. It comes in a pack of five, and the different sizes make sure there will be one your rabbit enjoys.

6. Homemade Wood Bunny Toys

There are many pet bunny toys and the Homemade Wood Bunny Toys project is just one example of a wood toy you can build for your rabbit, but there are countless projects you can build that would be much easier. Even a small piece of wood will work as a toy for bunnies to play with.

Rabbit Tunnels

Rabbits enjoy tunneling, but that's something they don't get to do much of it in captivity. Rabbits get excited when they travel through tunnels, and it may quickly become your pet's favorite toy. Tunnels will also last much longer than the other toys on this list.

7. Kaytee Crinkle Tunnel Oversized Crackling Tube

The Kaytee Crinkle Tunnel Oversized Crackling Tube can stretch to reach 23 inches, and it creates a crackling noise that your pet will enjoy. You can even extend the tunnel if you want. Our rabbits loved this toy, and they instinctively look for it when they get out of their cage. The only downside is that our rabbits would chew on it, so we had to watch them. Some of our rabbits were also too big for this toy.

8. DIY Play Tunnel

The DIY Play Tunnel is an easy-to-build project that will result in a tunnel that won't harm your rabbit if it chews on it.  You can build it to any length by adding cardboard boxes as you get them. You can keep it simple or create an elaborate system of tunnels your rabbit can enjoy exploring. You may even consider making your own wooden tunnel for rabbits.

Summary: Toys For Rabbits

Now that you know what bunnies like to play with, we hope you have a bunch of ideas for toys for rabbits. The tunnels and activity balls are our rabbit's favorite toys, and they spend many hours exploring the tunnels we've built. They will chew through them and occasionally use them as a bathroom, but it's easy and inexpensive to change them. The activity balls are a little harder to create, but you could probably make one in a single night by twisting up some timothy that you hopefully already have.  Weaving the hay will let you create the edible bed if you are handy with crafts. There are many examples of each type of toy on this list, and every one will provide your pet with entertainment and mental stimulation.

We hope you have enjoyed reading over this list and could use it to get some new ideas to keep your rabbit happy. If you will give some of them a try, please share these eight toys that rabbits like to play with on Facebook and Twitter.
